VIA| Texas Senator Ted Cruz gave James Comey both a spanking and a law lesson yesterday in response to the FBI Director’s assertion that Clinton aide Huma Abedin was not prosecuted for sending her husband, Anthony Weiner, classified emails because she did not know such actions were illegal.
“The reason that answer is puzzling, as you’re a very accomplished lawyer,” began Ted Cruz, “and as you’re well aware, every first-year law student learns in criminal law that ignorance of the law is no excuse.”
Cruz went on to cite several particular laws that make no mention of the need for an individual to know their illegal actions were, in fact, against the law.

The footage below is taken from Comey’s appearance before the Senate yesterday, during which he discussed the FBI’s probe into allegations of Russian hacking in the recent election.
“We have high confidence that the Russians did the hacking of the DNC and other organizations,” he said according to USA Today, in reference to the treasure trove of Clinton-related emails that surfaced during the presidential campaign.
USA Today states that Comey further declared that Russia is still involved in American politics and described Wikileaks as “intelligence porn.”
“Just pushing out information about sources and methods without regard to interest, without regard to the First Amendment values that normally underlie press reporting and simply becomes a conduit for the Russian intelligence services or some other adversaries of the United States, just to push out information that damages the United States,” he said of WikiLeaks’ actions in sharing the classified information.
