Not everyone can keep a crowd entertained, nor make one laugh. So it’s pretty impressive that a group of high schoolers had an entire auditorium chuckling without saying a single word!

If you’ve ever wondered what the lyrics are to the “Hallelujah Chorus” of Handel’s Messiah, look no further. The “silent monks” are here to help you not only sing along, but make you laugh!

Surely, no one knew what to expect – but it turned into a brilliantly funny performance they won’t forget.

14 students at South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington took a unique approach in performing the Christmas classic – the “monks” didn’t sing one word and yet had the audience cheering. What an original and entertaining way to do it!

The song is notoriously difficult to sing for and choir, so the audience must have been wondering what was going to come next…

Rather than belting out the song, these “monks” adhered to a strict rule of monastic silence. Instead, they held up signs with the song lyrics on them and synchronized their movements perfectly.

These kids clearly put a lot of work into getting their act just right! They all manage to get the correct words up at the right times, and they even put a little dance wiggle into certain parts of the song, to coordinate with the music.

Many people who’ve watched the video online have pointed out how creative and amusing the performance is. In fact, it’s been viewed more than 21 million times since it was posted.

A woman named Carolyn commented:

“This is the most hilarious video I’ve ever seen! I can only imagine the hours and hours of practice that went into this. Congratulations to these students!”
