A hit-and-run incident occurred in Fort Myers on March 8, 2021, in broad daylight at 11:30 am, during the incident a woman kneels in front of a white pickup truck before the driver rolls the truck over her and seriously injures the woman, it was caught on camera the bizarre traffic accident involving a pickup truck in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrell facility in Florida.
Initially, it was first caught on camera when the driver of the pickup truck was entering the vehicle, a utility trailer is being towed behind the truck, however, the suspect could be seen on surveillance video getting into the truck and driving away.
The truck starts moving toward a 49-year-old female pedestrian, hitting the woman and running her over with the front-right tire, and instead of stopping the suspect continued to drive away causing the victim to suffer serious injuries.
“Obviously, hits something that it shakes his whole vehicle, and then when he departs, he also has a vantage point of his driver side window and can obviously see where he just departed from,” FHP Lt. Greg Bueno said. “For someone not to have the wherewithal to stop their car get out and look and say what did I just hit, there’s no excuse for that.”
Unfortunately, the identity of the driver is still unknown but the driver of the pickup truck, described as a Ford F-250, and the Florida Highway Patrol is now looking for the driver, the pickup truck departed the scene of the collision by turning onto 4260 Boatways Road from the parking lot.
Police in Fort Myers is requesting assistance from the community in locating the cruel pickup truck driver. Meanwhile, the victim, who was from Cape Coral, had sustained severe injuries from the hit and run and continued to require the aid of medical professionals as she was rushed to doctors at the Lee Memorial Hospital.
Some people claimed that the driver was unaware of the woman in the middle of the parking lot. Others claim that the driver should have stopped the truck after striking the “bump” on the pavement as the incident left the readers shocked and confused, with one writing, “The driver can’t see her. Why is she kneeling in the middle of a car park?”
“He would have seen her as he entered the car park. Surely he drives in a straight line towards her, then stops left-hand drive or not she is in plain view. It seems very strange why she is waiting then goes to one knee,” one added.
Another said, “I’m assuming he couldn’t see her crouched down in the high truck. I don’t think he meant to hit her and probably didn’t even realize he hit a person. He probably thought it was a speed bump.”
“That’s a truck-shaking bump. You can bet if I rolled over something like that, I would look afterward, especially if I was in the middle of an empty parking lot. I’ve rolled over plenty of curbs that, in a moment’s terror, I thought might have been a person. I always checked.” Some readers said, believing that it was ridiculous to believe the truck driver was unaware of what he had just hit.
