Gowdy Sets Boundaries As New Committee Chair On Oversight Emmanuel June 23, 2017 Politics You Might Like Trey Gowdy JUST becaome the new Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, and he isn’t wasting any time taking the bull by the horns. Today he announced that with his powers he will give Trump the BEST gift he legally can for the Russia probe… Trey Gowdy will NOT be using his position as the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee to investigate James Comey or Russia. This is a huge departure from his predecessor, Jason Chaffetz, who demanded that the FBI hand over the “Comey Memos” and even was the one who urged Comey to take the stand and testify himself. Gowdy, on the other hand, believes that Mueller is in charge now and the laws should be followed the way they were written. He told a gaggle of reporters this afternoon: “I told Bob Mueller Tuesday that I would never do anything wittingly or unwittingly that veered over into his lane. His lane is broad and is undetermined at this point.” The memos “are in the jurisdiction of Bob Mueller, first and foremost. Secondarily Judiciary [Committee], because it has jurisdiction over the Department of Justice and the FBI.” There you have it. Isn’t it amazing how well things work when a man who RESPECTS the law is in charge of it?
