According to reports, vandals have frequently desecrated the grave of country music legend Charlie Daniels, and the most recent occurrence happened last week.
Charlie Daniels, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, passed away at the age of 83 almost two years ago. Although Charlie Daniels’ grave is frequently visited by fans, future visitors will probably notice that security precautions are being taken to preserve the integrity of the late musician’s ultimate resting place.
Family members and Daniels’ former band mates revealed that his tombstone plaque had been vandalized in a post on social media, they reported that someone recently dug up a freshly planted dogwood tree, while someone else glued a spouse’s military ID to the marble his grave marker.
“Thanks to someone stealing a dogwood sapling & watering bag this weekend (seriously!) & someone gluing a spouse’s military ID on the marble of Charlie’s marker a few months ago, MJPD will be increasing patrols near his grave & video surveillance will soon be installed,” the post read.
In an effort to combat vandalism at the site, police will be patrolling more in the area and video surveillance will be installed.
On July 6, 2020, Charlie Daniels was known far and wide for his amazing fiddle playing and being a staunch conservative and patriot passed away from a hemorrhagic stroke. Daniels was buried close to his home in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. A few months later, a tombstone marker with Psalm 91:1–8—one of his favorite verses—was placed.
