Four days before the controversial scene at the Academy Awards, Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith has made a TikTok video where she said, “I don’t give two craps what people feel of this bald head of mine, because guess what, I love it.”
“Being a black woman and dealing with hair in Hollywood, especially in the era that I came up in — having your hair look as European as possible was always the thing,” she added.
The Matrix Resurrections star continued:
“And that was really challenging, because I liked my hair out, wild, and curly. But nobody wanted that. So I always had to do my hair in ways that didn’t feel natural to me, because I was playing the game. I had to learn to get the courage to just go, ‘Nah, I’m not doing that,’ which is why I feel the freedom today. I don’t give to craps what people feel about this bald head of mine, because guess what, I love it.”
The video was posted with the hashtags “hair journey, #iamnotmyhair, and the phrase “be proud of your crown.”
Now, days later after her TikTok video, Chris Rock’s joke about the actress’ appearance (“Jada, I love ya. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it”) on Sunday made Will Smith march on stage and slapped him that shocked a lot of audience around the world.
After Smith retook his seat he then shouted twice, “Keep my wife’s name out your fucking mouth.”

Though Smith apologized before the Oscar ended, he didn’t include Chris’ name in his statement.
A lot of reactions came from Hollywood saying Smith should apologize to Chris and his behavior was unacceptable and his excuse for hitting Chris was “bullshit” and referring to his actions as a display of “toxic masculinity.”
In an Instagram post on Monday night, Rock went on to apologize to Chris and said, “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
Now the question is, how is it possible that Smith doesn’t even know his own wife who posted days ago saying “I am not my hair. I don’t give two craps what people think about my bald head because I love it. Be proud of your crown,” then slapped a comedian in front of the world over a joke about his wife’s bald head.
