WE KNEW IT: European Nations Prepping To Ban The Use Of Electric Vehicles….

As the continent faces with an energy crisis brought on by Russia’s war in Ukraine, Switzerland is considering outlawing electric vehicles for non-essential travel this winter.

Limiting the number of hours stores can be open to no more than 68 degrees Fahrenheit, as government officials have already drafted energy-saving plans, which could include limiting heat in buildings. According to the Telegraph.

Such as the prohibition of sizable indoor gatherings including sporting events, concerts, and theatrical performances, the report suggested that stricter measures could be enacted.

Due to its reliance on imported electricity throughout the summer, Switzerland is prepared for potential blackouts. Although 60% of the nation’s energy originates from hydropower means, during the winter months production is slow and the country relies on imports. Crisis and emergency are the two tiers of the nation’s emergency plan. The first layer similarly contains three levels of restrictions, and the third tier has two levels of restrictions.

In the third level of the emergency tier, Electric vehicles would face restrictions.

During a heat wave, California officials asked residents to avoid charging their electric vehicles to avoid overloading the power grid days later after California officials unveiled a plan to phase out new gas-powered cars in late August.

Experts, however, warn that the state’s electric grid will need significant upgrades to handle the rapid transition away from internal combustion vehicles. As the grid capacity warnings came just days after the California Air Resources Board issued new rules requiring 35% of new vehicles to have zero emissions by 2026 — a standard that will rise to 68% by 2030 and 100% by 2035.

According to researchers from the College of Engineering at Cornell University,

“Today, most people charge their electric cars when they come home in the evening — when electricity demand is typically at its peak. If left unmanaged, the power demanded from many electric vehicles charging simultaneously in the evening will amplify existing peak loads, potentially outstripping the grid’s current capacity to meet demand.”
