They Have Expanded Their Lockdown From The City To The Suburbs…

After spillover cases from the epicenter were discovered, certain counties and cities in the Shanghai region increased their epidemic prevention and control efforts.

Officials stated there is still a risk of transmission in communities. Anti-epidemic measures include issuing a yellow health code to every citizen and enforcing traffic restrictions, effectively putting the county on lockdown.

Since Sunday morning, Tonglu County in Hangzhou, East China’s Zhejiang Province, has conducted a new round of nucleic acid testing among all residents and given yellow health codes to all county residents, indicating that they are at medium risk and are barred from moving freely.

Residents are not allowed to leave their villages or compounds unless absolutely essential, according to a notice issued by the local epidemic prevention and control workgroup on Monday. Those wishing to enter or exit must provide nucleic acid testing results that are negative within 24 hours.

A few confirmed or asymptomatic infections identified in Hangzhou were discovered to have movement itineraries in Tonglu within the past few days, prompting the strengthened preventative and control actions.

The notice states that these new infections had visited epicenters outside the province.

Tonglu county’s May 9 press release read, “To curb the potential transmission of the virus, the county will strictly implement the controls on the areas in lockdown which will be sealed off with physical measures. Residents in areas under control and in precaution will be banned to gather or go out of the area.”

Traffic control measures have been in place since Sunday lunchtime to prevent people from leaving the county unless absolutely essential.

After the province of Jiangsu detected 62 new asymptomatic infections on Sunday, including 61 from Jiangyin, traffic restrictions has been established in the city of Jiangyin, which is under the jurisdiction of Wuxi in East China’s Jiangsu Province. Over 20,000 residents have been identified as close contacts or contacts of close contacts of these illnesses.

Despite this, 50 of the 61 asymptomatic infections were from centralized quarantine sites, 11 from lockdown areas, and their major movement itineraries were primarily in Zhouzhuang township and Yunting community, according to the local epidemic prevention and control workgroup. Temporary citywide traffic control has been implemented, and citywide nucleic acid screening has been rolled out.

The flare-up in Jiangyin started on May 3 when three people’s nucleic acid test results showed abnormal results which posed a potential risk of viral spread at the community level.

A number of emergency measures were implemented, including the suspension of onsite schooling and commercial operations, with the exception of those that provided daily essentials. Catering firms can only provide take-out orders.

As of Sunday, the city had reported roughly 300 positive infections from this flare-up.
