You might want to check yours – it’s probably full of crumbs and other food remnants.
While TikTok is mostly known for its dances and lip-syncs, the video-sharing social networking service has also become an unlikely source for useful hacks.
One such user is a professional cleaner from Melbourne known as @thebigcleanco on the platform. In one TikTok video, Kacie shared a video showing how she typically cleans a toaster.
The professional cleaner Kacie has gathered over 2.2 million views on her video as she hit out at some cleaning ‘hacks’ shared online.
She says: “There are cleaning hacks going around the internet that are not really hacks at all, they make it harder. This week I was sent one. ‘Clean your toaster with a hairdryer’. Just tip it in the bin.”
In her video, Kacie puts her hand under the toaster and pulls out a tray that collects all the crumbs to empty it – and, bizarrely, it’s blowing people’s minds.
“There are cleaning hacks going around the internet that are not really hacks at all, they make it harder. This week I was sent one. ‘Clean your toaster with a hairdryer. Just tip it in the bin,” she said.
In TikTok, she was also asked by one of her followers.
One asked, “How do you make stubborn water stains go away?”
Kacie, of course, had the answer. To remove stubborn water stains from a glass shower, just rub it down with a non-scratch sponge and Gumptions, a paste, or Bar Keeper’s Friend, a powder, and rinse.
And while this won’t come as a surprise to many, believe it or not, the ‘revelation’ appears to have blown people away.
One person commented to say: “There’s a TRAY?!?!?!?”
A second said, “Oh my god, I can’t believe this. I keep staring at it and getting angry about all the crumbs.”
Another wrote, “Wait? Do toasters have trays?”
Blow back to say, “OK, I understand there are some things you don’t understand, but you won’t know about toasters. As if your house might catch fire.”
