One of the rights that everyone has in the United States is the right to defend themselves against anyone that is trying to harm them or their property.
If someone gets lost in the middle of a several thousand acre ranch it might be something if you whipped the heck out of someone but if it’s apparent that whoever the person is happens to be trying to harm you or your property then all bets are off.
Thankfully, you can usually figure it out pretty quickly to have to make that decision.
I have an alarm system in my home and thankfully I have never had any sort of a problem as far as anyone trying to break into my house.
However, a few months ago one of my neighbors had an issue where someone tried to break into his car and he caught them on video. Had he caught them as it was happening he would have been well within his rights to do whatever he had to do that was necessary to get them to stop.
That doesn’t mean that if the person tripped and fell while they were trying to break into the car that they deserve anything to cover the cost of what happened to them. For any logical person they would call that the cost of playing the game.
Although most of us believe that those who do bad things should be held accountable for their actions, this isn’t always the case. A thief was shot dead after breaking into another person’s home, but his family had a ridiculous response on the matter.
The incident took place in Miami, Florida, where 17-year-old Trevon Johnson — who has had previous run-ins with the law — decided to enter a residence without the home owner’s permission. Unfortunately for him, the home was fitted with a security system that alerted the unidentified female property owner, who wasn’t home at the time.
The concerned resident called 911 to report the suspicious presence before darting home. Making matters worse for Johnson, the homeowner was actually a concealed carry permit holder and had her firearm with her at the time.
After she arrived home, she caught Johnson in the act and confronted him as he was leaving the residence through the back door. Although it’s unclear what took place next, the homeowner discharged her firearm, striking Johnson with a single round that would later kill him.
However, the worst was about to come. As the duo continued to spew their nonsense, Harris officially threw accountability for the thug’s actions right out the window by saying, “You have to look at it from every child’s point of view that was raised in the hood. You have to understand… how he gonna get his money to have clothes to go to school? You have to look at it from his point-of-view.”
Because this kid didn’t have money for the clothes he wanted, it was his right to steal something from someone else so that he could buy them? Where in the world would someone get off saying such a thing? This, right here, is exactly what is wrong with society and what happens when an entitled mentality is allowed to fester for too long.
