A British mother has come up with a genius life hack to avoid washing dinner plates after meals.
Rebecca Cubberly, a 28-year-old mother from Telford, Shropshire, has come up with a life hack to avoid washing dinner plates after meals. She covers each plate with a sheet of aluminum foil so she can crush it up and throw it away once the meal is finished. This simple trick has saved her thirty minutes of cleaning time every night.
Cubberly already has her hands full with various chores and errands, and she simply wants to save some time by reducing the number of dishes she has to clean at the end of the day.
“We like picky meals, and this way is more fun, and the clean-up afterward was great. I had a knife and a chopping board to clean,” she said.
The mother of two used an air fryer to cook the meal in the image, so she didn’t have to do extra dishes by cooking it on the stovetop. She didn’t hand out utensils either because she didn’t want to have to wash them at the end of the meal. Instead, she urged her family of five to use their fingers to pick at the food and create their meals with whatever they wanted to eat.
“I normally spend about half an hour cleaning up after a meal like that and it’s a long time to spend cooking and cleaning after a long day. It was that easy I told my husband to do bath time and I’d tidy up. I thought, ‘There is no washing up, so I’ll do it tonight and he can have the difficult job of doing bath time.’”
Cubberly’s children loved the aluminum foil so much that she FaceTimed with her grandma to show off her skills.
“We’ll 100 percent be doing it again. We’ll be trying it with lots of different things like pizza and plowman’s, or when we have a picky tea or when I’m just not in the mood to wash up,” she said.
However, Cubberly’s life hack attracted scorn from social media users who criticized her for contributing waste to the world. They felt that she was using too much aluminum foil for her entire family because she puts it across each plate and then asks her family to eat with their fingers.
Despite the criticism, Cubberly remains undeterred and plans to continue using her life hack to save time and avoid washing dishes at the end of the night.
