NASCAR star Bobby East a three-time US Auto Club (USAC) champion passed away at the young age of 37, while filling up his automobile at a gas station in California, Bobby was fatally murdered.
On Wednesday at about 5:51 p.m. local time, the assailant allegedly plunged a knife into the retired champion driver. The tragic incident occurred in Orange County, Cal., just south of crime-ridden Los Angles.
At about 6:00 p.m. Westminster Police Officers in California responded to a report of a stabbing at the 76 gas station, East was found on the ground with a critical chest wound by first responders, who treated him. He was taken to a local hospital where it was determined that he had passed away. However, the suspect fled the area prior to police arrival. As detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation they later identified the alleged suspect as Trent William Millsap.
In a statement by the Westminster Police Department, “Millsap, who fled the area prior to police arrival, is suspected of stabbing the victim. Millsap also has an outstanding parole warrant. He should be considered armed and dangerous. Millsap is transient and known to frequent Westminster, Garden Grove, and Anaheim motels.”
Police describe Millsap as a male, white, 6‘05” tall, muscular build, bald, tattoos on his head, face, neck, chest, arms, and hands, and also has an outstanding parole warrant.
On Friday, during a SWAT raid in Millsap, the suspect in the fatal stabbing of a former NASCAR driver was reportedly shot and killed by Police.
Investigators from the Westminster Police Department learned that a wanted murder suspect was staying in an apartment on the 3300 block of Lincoln Avenue in the City of Anaheim Trent William Millsap. The warrant for the suspect’s search and arrest was delivered by the West County SWAT Team. During police activity, the wanted homicide suspects Millsap was shot and killed by Police.
In a follow-up investigation, Westminster, Cal., PD, explained what happened in a press release.
According to the release: “On Friday, July 15, 2022, Westminster Police Department detectives received information a wanted homicide suspect was in an apartment located in the 3300 block of Lincoln Avenue in the City of Anaheim. The West County SWAT Team responded to serve a search/arrest warrant for the suspect. During the service of the search warrant, an officer involved shooting took place. No officers were injured; however, a police K-9 sustained a single gunshot wound that was not life threatening. The Westminster Police Department, along with members of the Orange County District Attorney’s office are currently investigating the shooting.”
