Finding out that your husband is cheating is heartbreaking, and when he’s sleeping with someone close to you, that can be even more devastating.
28-year-old Hailey Custer of Wickenburg learned the devastating news after delivering the baby to her unnamed best friend and even giving the baby its first bath.
When her best friend called and told her she was in labor, Hailey didn’t hesitate for a minute and drove her to the hospital.
She quickly agreed to help, even though the mom of three had been trying to stay sober and her friend still struggled with substance abuse, she explained in a video from last month.
“I was with her when she got her epidural and I wore the daddy wristband and I got to give the baby her first bath,” the TikToker recalled. “I was just happy to be a part of that.”
Hailey said she knew something was off after noticing the baby’s birth defect was similar to her husband’s.
“I’m very familiar with the defect because my older son has it – it’s an extra piece of cartilage that grows out of the side of his neck,” she explained.
In a second video, Hailey explained that her best friend was standing next to her when she noticed the bumps.
“We both saw that birthmark, kind of looked at each other. I had to step outside,” she continued.
“I was needing a moment to ask God what I should do in this situation,” she remembered.“There was a baby involved, and at the end of the day I was just looking at the bigger picture not really what my feelings were at, not really what her feelings [were at] or anyone else’s feelings, but like the bigger picture or what was the right thing to do.”
Her friend admitted the truth “right away.” On the other hand, it took her now-ex-husband Travis Bowling, 36, about six or seven months to confirm what everybody else knew.
Her best friend ended up staying with them even after she admitted to the infidelity. Hailey joked it was a “sister-wife situation.” Eventually, however, the friend did move out.
People in the comments section applauded the mom for acting with grace.
“You are a beautiful human,” one person wrote. “I am in my 30s and am in no way ready to be this mature.”
“You’re a better person than me. Thank you for being you,” another commenter added.
“You are a really good person,” a third commenter chimed in.
