Democratic Representative Nominates Kavanaugh Accuser Christine Blasey Ford for “Profiles in Courage” Award Emmanuel January 30, 2019 Liberal Agenda Democratic California Representative Jackie Speier announced on Monday evening that she was nominating Kavanaugh accuser, California psychology professor Christine Blasey Ford, for the “Profiles in Courage” award. Speier sent out a tweet in which she stated that she would be nominating Blasey Ford for the award. Numerous former United States presidents have been recipients of the award. Speier wrote, “Nominating Dr. Christine Blasey Ford – a true American (s)hero who sacrificed so much to do what was right for our country and for the pursuit of truth of justice – for this year’s Profiles in Courage Award @JFKLibrary. She is an inspiration to us all.” Nominating Dr. Christine Blasey Ford – a true American (s)hero who sacrificed so much to do what was right for our country and for the pursuit of truth of justice – for this year’s Profiles in Courage Award @JFKLibrary. Kennedy Presidential Library, the sponsor of the award, says on its website that it bestows the honor on public officials “at the federal, state, or local level whose actions demonstrate the qualities of politically courageous leadership in the spirit of Profiles in Courage.” The award is based off President John F. Kennedy’s 1957 book of the same name, which featured stories from “eight U.S. senators who risked their careers by embracing unpopular positions for the greater good,” according to the library’s website. The library has awarded the prize to 51 people— including former Presidents Gerald Ford, George H.W. Bush, and Barack Obama. Christine Blasey Ford, a professor employed by Palo Alto University, gave her testimony in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee in September of 2o18. She accused then-Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh of having sexually assaulted her at a party more than three decades ago. Ultimately, the committee conducted an FBI probe within a limited scope in order to look into Blasey Ford’s claims against Kavanaugh. They found no substantial evidence to back up Blasey Ford’s claims. While the FBI was not able to find any evidence that Blasey Ford’s accusations against Kavanaugh had any validity, Democrats seemed to take the opportunity to use the professor’s testimony against him during his confirmation. Breitbart explains that Ford actually gained quite a bit from her testimony. “She obtained access to hundreds of thousands of dollars from multiple crowdfunding campaigns in her name and received several offers for book deals,” the news outlet writes. “Several Democrat politicians and media outlets also decided to honor Ford after her testimony. Palo Alto Mayor Liz Kniss, a Democrat, announced in October 2018 that she would honor Ford at a public ceremony before the city council for her courage.” Leave a Reply Cancel ReplyYour email address will not be published.CommentName* Email* Website Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
