After images of infants under the age of five were found on his computer, a Michigan man just made the sick excuse!
Detectives searched through the electronic devices of 45-year-old, Joseph Gobrick. The authorities then found a treasure trove of child pornography that showed young victims being sexually assaulted and raped between the ages of one and five.
The authorities located the disturbing photos and videos when a 17-year-old girl who had been reported as missing or in danger was found in Joseph Gobrick‘s residence in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Following the incident, the 45-year-old was then arrested.
This is not the first time Gobrick was arrested because, in 2001, Gobrick was previously convicted in a sexual abuse case in New York. However, a more disturbing was followed when Gobrick reasoned that the pornography in his possession was computer-generated. But police were able to positively identify eight of the children in the videos.

Not only that the convicted sex offender, however, had a number of defenses that he thought were unbeatable throughout his trial. He even seemingly attempted to utilize the “identity” theory to defend his sexual offenses. Arguing that possessing child pornography was protected by the Constitution under the First Amendment. He even cited his transgender status as an 8-year-old female to support his claim.
“I’ve always been an eight-year-old girl. And even my drawings and fantasies, I’m always an eight-year-old girl. I would no sooner have sex with a child than you would with a rattlesnake. It’s just not safe,” Gobrick told the judge.
And despite evidence mounting against him, prosecutors revealed that the sex offender even continued to create pornographic images of children being raped while imprisoned. Gobrick still vehemently denied being sexually attracted to children and vowed that he would never abuse a child.
Kent County Assistant Prosecutor Daniel Helmer told the court, “Even during the trial, the defendant continued to draw drawings, provide them to me, talking about raping babies in the Kent County jail.”
Gobrick claimed to have made the images using GIMP, which is a free image editing program, but he failed to convince the courtroom that the pornography he possessed was realistic computer animations.
However, Gobrick was found guilty on all 3 counts and was sentenced to 20 years in prison with a minimum of 10 years because Gobrick’s alleged identity or his invoking of the Constitution failed to sway Kent County Circuit Court Judge Paul Denenfield.
“Based on everything he’s said and done, including bragging about what he was drawing in his cell, he obviously doesn’t think child sexually abusive material is wrong. This isn’t just virtual stuff; this is also real people being harmed,” Denenfeld said.
“Under the law, Auschwitz was legal. What you’re doing here is wrong, just as Auschwitz was,” Gobrick said, in an apparent reference to the Nazi concentration camp in southern Poland, outrageously arguing that he was wrongfully sentenced. Taking his absurd legal defense, a step further.
