Democrats are still reeling from the shock of Election Day, where Donald Trump not only defeated Kamala Harris but also secured Republican majorities in both the Senate and the House. This landslide win signals a clear referendum on the Democratic Party, leaving conservatives energized and ready to implement their vision for the future.
As Trump works to assemble his administration, one of his first major moves was naming Brendan Carr as the new Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Carr, currently the senior Republican member of the FCC, was originally nominated to the commission by Trump in 2017 and has been confirmed unanimously by the Senate three times—a testament to his bipartisan credibility.
A “Warrior for Free Speech”
In his announcement, Trump praised Carr as a staunch defender of free speech and a tireless advocate for innovation and economic growth.
“[Carr] will end the regulatory onslaught that has been crippling America’s Job Creators and Innovators and ensure that the FCC delivers for rural America,” Trump said.
Carr expressed his gratitude in a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Thank you, President Trump! I am humbled and honored to serve as Chairman of the FCC. Now we get to work.”
Taking on Big Tech and Media Bias
Carr’s appointment comes at a critical time when issues like Big Tech accountability and media bias are at the forefront of public discourse. Known for his tough stance on tech giants like Google, Facebook, and TikTok, Carr has long advocated for transparency and stronger regulations to curb abuses by these platforms.
His criticism extends to the mainstream media as well. Just days before the election, Carr called out NBC’s Saturday Night Live for what he described as a blatant violation of FCC rules. The show had given Kamala Harris a platform while excluding Trump, an action Carr labeled as a thinly veiled attempt to influence the election.
“NBC has structured this in a way that’s plainly designed to evade the FCC’s rules,” Carr said. He criticized the timing of Harris’ appearance, noting that it occurred just 50 hours before polls opened, giving the opposing campaign no opportunity to respond.
A Respected Choice
Carr’s nomination has drawn widespread support from conservatives and key organizations. The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) endorsed him earlier this month, citing his extensive expertise in communications and technology policy.
“He would make an outstanding FCC Chairman who will ensure the United States continues to lead the world in telecommunications advancements and innovations,” FOP President Patrick Yoes wrote in a letter to Trump.
Liberals in Disarray
As Trump unveils his picks for top administration roles, liberal critics have predictably expressed outrage. However, conservatives are celebrating these appointments as a return to common-sense governance and a commitment to free speech and innovation.
Carr’s track record and dedication make him a strong choice to lead the FCC. With Trump’s backing, he is poised to tackle pressing issues like Big Tech overreach, media accountability, and expanding telecommunications access to underserved areas.
As Trump’s administration takes shape, it’s clear that the priorities of his second term will center on empowering Americans, fostering innovation, and ensuring fairness in a media landscape long dominated by left-leaning narratives. Brendan Carr’s appointment as FCC Chairman is a significant step in that direction, and conservatives are eager to see what’s next.
