A jaw-dropping video from a beach close to San Diego, California, showed a young girl harassing a sleeping sea lion. With her mother nearby, not stepping in, the girl threw sand and rocks at the resting animal. This incident happened near La Jolla Cove, and the video was shared on TikTok, where it gained over two million views.

Once the girl started bothering the sea lion, a lifeguard decided to take action. The video captured her tossing various objects at the poor creature before the lifeguard stepped in, telling her to leave the beach immediately for breaking the animal policy.

The girl’s actions took place in front of others, including a woman believed to be her mother. The lifeguard got pretty mad at the girl’s behavior, and through a loudspeaker, announced that she was no longer welcome on the San Diego beach.

“Little girl in the purple, you can leave now, thanks,” the lifeguard said.

Other beachgoers, also curious about the sleeping sea lion, kept a respectful distance and didn’t throw anything at the animal.

The TikTok video became viral, and many folks praised the lifeguard’s actions. If the girl had been allowed to continue, the situation might’ve gotten worse. The eight-second video, posted on February 27, 2023, had a message: “The little girl had thrown rocks/sand like two more times before this announcement.”

Comments on the video expressed shock that the girl’s mother didn’t intervene and gratitude for the lifeguard’s actions.

One commenter wrote, “Thank you for the person on the loudspeaker.”

Another exclaimed, “WHY ARE THE PARENTS JUST STANDING THERE!?”

Some people wanted more footage to see the girl’s reaction to being kicked off the beach. A TikTok user joked, “Is there more footage so I can see them leaving with the little girl in purple in tears?”

This video serves as a reminder to always respect wildlife and the environment and to step in when someone acts irresponsibly.
