The most recent fake information to go viral regarding Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was exposed as inaccurate by fact-checkers and members of the legacy media.

A number of posts on social media concerning a bill signed by Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis last year attracted a lot of attention for allegedly requiring students and staff at public universities to report their political views. Even though the claims are false.

In accordance with the law, DeSantis signed on June 23, 2021, the State Board of Education and the Board of Governors were mandated to “select or create an objective, nonpartisan, and statistically valid survey” in order to gather information on the degree to which various viewpoints and ideas are presented at colleges throughout the state and whether or not students feel free to express their beliefs in the classroom.

However, Critics of the Florida governor posted “false claims” from accounts known for spreading false information. It all started after Democrat Jon Cooper, who has over a million followers and a Former National Finance Chair of Draft Biden 2016, wrote ICYMI: Ron DeSantis signs bill requiring Florida students and professors to register their political views with the state.”

Followed by the lefty-American author Stephen King who also post the same false claims that says DeSantis signs bill requiring Florida students, professors to register political views with state.I. Can’t. Even.”

The tweet quickly gained popularity as lefty blue checks galore, including the “woke” Jemele Hill, spread the information as if it were brand-new and Very Concerning and more proof that DeSantis is a “fascist” or something.

Dash Dobrofsky, a self-described Democrat strategist who has nearly 60,000 followers also joins,

“Ron DeSantis is forcing teachers to identify their political affiliation to Florida’s GOP state legislatures if the Legislatures aren’t ‘satisfied’ with the answers, they can defund those public schools. This is not Freedom of Speech. This is Fascism. Vote for @CharlieCrist.”

According to ABC News correspondent Jay O’Brien, the legislation concerning politics in schools that was approved and became law was from the previous year.

“This viral post is inaccurate. Further, it references a law passed in 2021 and makes a claim that was debunked that same year. Even the article it links to was written in 2021. Look before you retweet,” ABC News’ Jay O’Brien said.

PolitiFact and members of the legacy media also debunked the claims in response to Cooper’s viral post.

According to DeSantis’ press secretary Christina Pushaw, this false information was spread by liberal Twitter because of its “blinding partisan hatred.”

She said that the legislation’s goals were to prevent any students from feeling as though they were being forced to adhere to a particular political perspective in the classroom and to give the state more information about how widespread bias is on its college campuses.
