Recent reports reveal a concerning bias in Advanced Placement U.S. History textbooks, which paint former President Trump’s term in an unfairly negative light while omitting crucial details and promoting debunked narratives.
Advanced Placement U.S. History (APUSH) textbooks have come under fire for their blatantly biased portrayal of former President Donald Trump‘s time in office, as exposed by conservative Greg Price in his investigative report.
In his article, Price exposes several instances where these widely-used textbooks provide wildly inaccurate coverage of Trump’s term. It’s shocking to discover that almost all of the textbooks reviewed by Price attribute Trump’s 2016 election win to “Russian meddling,” even though this narrative has been debunked by numerous studies and reports.
Furthermore, these texts conveniently omit crucial details about the Trump-Russia media narrative, the Steele Dossier, and the FBI’s unprecedented FISA abuses. This omission clearly highlights the anti-Trump bias pervasive in these educational materials.
One textbook falsely claims that Trump refused to condemn the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017. In reality, Trump condemned the rally in the strongest possible terms and denounced hate groups such as the KKK, neo-Nazis, and white supremacists.
Price’s report also reveals the blatant bias exhibited by a Columbia University historian in his textbook, which covers sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and former Democrat President Bill Clinton. While discussing the Thomas confirmation, the book states, “sexual misconduct by public officials had a long history,” but it fails to address the numerous inconsistencies in Anita Hill’s allegations against Thomas. In contrast, when covering Bill Clinton’s presidency, the author avoids using the term “sexual misconduct” and makes no mention of his accusers.

This biased coverage of Trump’s presidency in APUSH textbooks is a disturbing example of how educational materials can be manipulated to further a political agenda. It is essential that textbooks present accurate and unbiased information to foster critical thinking and a well-informed perspective among students. Unfortunately, the anti-Trump bias in these textbooks does a disservice to the students and the nation as a whole.
