The word professional is used by different people in different ways. It is used as an adjective to describe a certain kind of behavior that is usually meant to be calm, controlled, objective, and not interested in personal gain.  As the saying goes, “Professionalism is not the job you do, it’s how you do the job.” Professionalism involves consistently achieving high standards, both visibly and “behind the scenes” – whatever your role or profession.

As reporting the facts is the only duty that reporters and anchors have. No matter how horrible, when they’re talking about a situation like a shooting or accident in a distant state. When it has nothing to do with them, it makes their job much easier, as most of the time those facts it had nothing to do with their personal lives. However, for a newscaster, as she did her reading an accident just leave her shell-shocked colleagues speechless!

Supreet Kaur, a newscaster for a private regional TV station in Chhattisgarh, entered the studio on a typical Saturday morning. But when breaking news about the deaths of her husband and two other people in a car accident broke, she maintained her cool and finished her Job.

Kaur kept her composure during Saturday morning’s live news bulletin as a reporter phoned in details of a fatal accident involving a Renault Duster at Pithara in the Mahasamund district earlier in the day.

The reporter said three of the five people traveling in the vehicle were dead. Though he did not identify the dead, there was enough for Kaur to instantly realize it could be her husband. He too was to travel in a Renault Duster along the same route during the same time along with four companions.

CNN reported Kaur broke down when her husband’s death was confirmed to her after the show when she went from the set to the newsroom.

Her bravery while she delivered the story — even as images of the vehicle and blurred images of the victim appeared — was noted by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Twitter, writing, “Salute Supreet’s strength in dealing with her husband’s demise with extraordinary bravery & professionalism. May departed soul rest in peace.”

After the news bulletin, Kaur walked out of the TV studio, called up the reporter and came to know about the death of her husband.

Kaur’s colleagues said,It could have been a difficult situation for anyone. But, she controlled her anxiety, remained composed, and showed exemplary commitment to her job. We are proud of her.”

Kaur, who hails from the steel city of Bhilai, has been working as a news anchor with IBC 24 for the last nine years. She married Harsad Kawade almost a year ago.
