Rising Hollywood star Jonathan Majors is facing accusations of assaulting a woman, which has led to his arrest. However, the actor, known for his roles in recent blockbusters like “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “Creed III,” is vehemently maintaining his innocence.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Majors was arrested on charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment. Authorities informed the outlet that they had responded to a 911 call at an apartment, “where a 33-year-old male was involved in a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old female.”
According to the police, “The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident.” The woman, whose relationship with Majors is described as “domestic,” suffered minor injuries to her head and neck and was taken to a hospital. Majors is no longer in custody at the time of this writing.
Majors’ legal team is vigorously defending the sought-after actor, emphasizing that evidence, such as testimony, statements, and video footage of the alleged incident, is actively being collected. Intriguingly, the Reporter mentions that one of the statements being gathered is from the woman herself, recanting her accusations and implying that the entire event was a mental health crisis gone wrong.
“Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows,”Priya Chaudhry, Majors’ criminal defense lawyer, told the Reporter. “We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently.”
Another unnamed representative for Majors asserted, “He has done nothing wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.”
Chaudhry explained that the only reason for Majors’ arrest was due to procedural requirements.
“All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever,” Chaudhry said. “The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon.”
Many eyes are undoubtedly watching this case closely, as Majors is involved in various projects and campaigns, including one for the Army. Majors’ connection to the military stems from his father’s service in the Air Force. In a 2019 interview with the Reporter, Majors disclosed a troubled past that he overcame by discovering a passion for acting.
This passion has undoubtedly flourished recently, with Majors landing prominent roles in films like Creed and Ant-Man. Majors’ portrayal of the main antagonist Kang in Ant-Man is of particular concern to Disney and Marvel, as Kang is set to be the primary villain in several upcoming Marvel projects, including the Avengers movies.
In addition to his role as Kang, Majors’ upcoming projects listed on IMDB include the thriller “The Man in My Basement” and a biopic about the controversial NBA icon Dennis Rodman, in which Majors is rumored to play the lead role.
