Vandalized by surprise last Sunday night was one of Americas oldest Christopher Columbus monuments. Columbus

The activist filmed themselves taking a giant sledgehammer to a Baltimore obelisk created in honor of Christopher Columbus, then to top it off, they posted the film online.

The activists left a sign on the damaged 44-foot-tall monument that reads: “Sacred to the Memory of Chris.”

From dailycaller:

Vandals smashed a 225-year old monument to Christopher Columbus in Baltimore early Monday morning. The edifice is documented as the oldest still standing in the nation dedicated to the explorer, the Baltimore Brew first reported.

The monument is located directly across the street from Herring Run Park, northeast of Lake Montebello. It was built by Frenchman Chevalier d’Anemours, or d’Anmour, at Belmont, his 50-acre estate near Harford Road and North Avenue.

According to Baltimore Brew, an online video shows an individual smashing the base, which contained the inscription: Sacred to the Memory of Chris. Columbus Oct. XII MDCC VIIIC. The vandals destroyed nearly all the text on the base of the 44-foot-tall obelisk.

The vandal left a sign by the destruction, saying  “Racism: Tear it down,” and another sign saying “The future is racial and economic justice.”

The vandalism comes in the wake of Baltimore authorities tearing down monuments of Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee last week after violent events, focused on the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue in Charlottesville, Virginia occurred.

VIA Rawstory: In the video, one person smashes the monument with a sledgehammer as another holds a sign. An unidentified narrator explains why the action was being taken:

“Christopher Columbus symbolizes the initial invasion of European capitalism into the Western Hemisphere. Columbus initiated a centuries-old wave of terrorism, murder, genocide, rape, slavery, ecological degradation and capitalist exploitation of labor in the Americas. That Columbian wave of destruction continues on the backs of Indigenous, African-American and brown people.

“Racist monuments to slave owners and murderers have always bothered me. Baltimore’s poverty is concentrated in African-American households, and these statues are just an extra slap in the face. They were built in the 20th century in response to a movement for African Americans’ human dignity. What kind of a culture goes to such lengths to build such hate-filled monuments? What kind of a culture clings to those monuments in 2017?”

I wonder just how big and strong the cretins who smash inanimate objects feel? Does it prove that they have even the semblance of a brain, or just that whatever intellect they may have had is totally impaired. The fact that they are more closely tied to neanderthals goes without saying, and the fact that they find it easier to destroy than to create puts their questionable artistic ability into question. Creatures like this will begin with inanimate objects, then find it much more fun to harm people. Their hatred is in-built. Sad, really.
