Opinion|  On Thursday, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, revealed that top officials at the Justice Department, which includes former acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, are to appear in front of the Senate Committee in order to speak on bias allegations against the department.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said Thursday he would like to bring Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein back to Capitol Hill to testify about claims that the Justice Department official discussed a plan to potentially remove President Trump from office.

Graham, who serves as chairman of the Judiciary Committee, indicated his interest in hearing from Rosenstein after former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe told CBS that Rosenstein had offered to wear a wire around the president and that there were serious conversations about invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump.

According to the Hill, when asked if Rosenstein refused to testify Graham answered, “Yeah, I would like to know what happened. You’re having a conversation about whether or not you’re going to invoke the 25th Amendment.”

“I imagine if the shoe were on the other foot, my Democratic colleagues would want to know about that conversation if it involved a Democrat. Absolutely, I want to hear from him at the appropriate time,” he continued.

On Thursday morning, the DOJ released a statement which reiterated that Rosenstein denied Andrew McCabe’s comments during a “60 Minutes” interview, which was released that morning. During the interview, he called McCabe’s account “inaccurate and factually incorrect.”

“The Deputy Attorney General never authorized any recording that Mr. McCabe references. As the Deputy Attorney General previously has stated, based on his personal dealings with the President, there is no basis to invoke the 25th Amendment, nor was the DAG in a position to consider invoking the 25th Amendment,” a DOJ spokesperson explained in the statement.

“It is imperative that he and others come before the Senate Judiciary Committee to fully explain how and why a FISA warrant was issued against Carter Page and answer questions about what appears to be, now more than ever, bias against President Trump,” the South Carolina Republican, explained in a Thursday statement.

Mr. Graham’s comments come hours after Mr. McCabe’s bombshell interview with the news program “60 Minutes.”

During the interview, Mr. McCabe said Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein offered “multiple times” to wear a wire in meetings with Mr. Trump. He also said the Justice Department held meetings discussing removing Mr. Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and other Cabinet officials through the 25th Amendment

Mr. Graham did not officially say whether or not he would be subpoenaing Andrew McCabe or Rod Rosenstein, however he does have power to do so as Judiciary chairman.
